Nurturing young minds in the heart of Kirwee

Nestled in the heart of our vibrant rural community, Kirwee Tree House is a purpose-built early childhood centre, thoughtfully designed to support the learning, growth, and well-being of tamariki aged 0 to 6 years.

We are proud to offer a nurturing, homely environment where every child is valued, respected, and empowered. Our passionate and experienced kaiako (teachers) create meaningful learning experiences that reflect each child’s interests, culture, and individuality.

Whether your child is just beginning their early learning journey or preparing for the transition to school, our dedicated team is here to support them every step of the way.

Whanaungatanga - Relationships

At the Tree house we believe strong authentic whanaungatanga (relationships) with tamariki, whānau, and the community is the key to, providing the foundation for a sense of unity, belonging, and cohesion for all. We strive to create warm, supportive, meaningful relationships connected by a powerful common purpose- to support all ngā tamariki (childrens) overall wellbeing and their own unique learning journey.

Manaakitanga- kindness and respect

We promote respect, generosity, and care for others.   Being kind, helping and supporting each other– extending aroha/love to those around us. We value the diversity and uniqueness of each tamaiti (child), whanau and Kaiako and the gifts they bring.

Whakamana- Empowerment

We aspire for the Tree house to be Tūrangawaewae . 'a place to stand' where everyone feels empowered and connected.

Our programme is guided by Te whariki our Early childhood Curriculum. Supporting each tamaiti to learn and explore their interests in their own unhurried time – ā tōna wā. Empowering them to become confident and competent ako (learners), ready for a journey of lifelong learning.

We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and acknowledge the bicultural heritage of Aotearoa. The use of Te Reo Maori and Tikanga practices in natural and meaningful ways woven into our daily practices.

We embrace and affirm each ngā tamaiti (childs) culture, identity, and language, supporting tamariki to have mana and positive awareness of their own and other cultures.

We know our Kaiako (teachers) are vital to the development of tamariki and their wellbeing is of the utmost importance. We support their professional and personal goals and empower them to utilise their skills and seek support for to continue their own learning journey.

Kaitiakitanga- Guardianship

We believe Papatūānuku (Earth) is a taonga (gift) and should be protected. We foster an understanding of kaitiakitanga and the responsibilities of being a kaitiaki for Papatuanuku through role modelling respect, care, and love for our garden, environment, resources, and promotion of sustainable practices.

Using Educa to Capture and Document Learning

At Kirwee Tree House, we value the importance of capturing each child’s learning journey in meaningful and accessible ways. We use Educa, a digital documentation tool, to record and share tamariki’s progress, achievements, and experiences with their whānau.

Through Educa, we can:
Capture learning moments: Our kaiako use Educa to document significant learning moments, observations, and milestones, ensuring each tamaiti’s growth is recorded and celebrated.

Engage whānau: Educa allows us to share real-time updates, photos, and videos with whānau, creating an opportunity for families to be actively involved in their child’s learning and development.

Reflect and track progress: Educa enables us to track each child’s development and progress over time, making it easy for kaiako to reflect on individual learning pathways and plan for future experiences.

Whānau are encouraged to access Educa to view their child’s learning stories and share their thoughts and feedback. We believe in the power of collaboration between home and centre, and Educa is a wonderful tool that fosters this partnership, keeping everyone connected in the learning process.
